The Greatest Frontman Of All Time Takes His Leave

Lux Interior (aka Erick Lee Purkhiser)
1946 - 2009

In 1973 Lux and his future wife Poison Ivy (aka Kristy Wallace) formed
what would become one of the most influential punk rock bands of
all time-The Cramps. They became renowned for their out of control live
shows and Lux led the way with his no-holds-barred stage presence.
I had the great privilege to see them live at the renowned Minneapolis club
First Avenue on several occasions and each time made sure
to be front and center to witness first hand the power of his live performance.
He always put on an amazing show with intense and powerful vocals,
over the top theatrics and every damn time ending it barely clothed
lying in a giant pool of sweat. There was nothing more thrilling than having
Lux hovering directly over you singing at the top of his lungs,
dripping sweat down on you. The moment he hit the stage
he always had the entire audience in his hands and he chewed us up
good and then spit us all out in a big sweaty blob at the end.
Music has lost a punk legend that can never be equaled!

Lux passed quietly on February 4th of a pre-existing heart condition.
