"Straight For Equality" award. The award is being given to heterosexuals who are seen as outspoken allies to the GLBT community. Jeanne Phillips, like her mom, has always stated that homosexuality is a biological condition-
"...not a personal choice" and as such, homosexuals should not be treated as second-class citizens.
"If gay Americans are not allowed to get married and have all the benefits that American citizens are entitled to by the Bill Of Rights, they should get one hell of a tax break."It is incredibly refreshing and empowering to hear someone we consider an iconic mainstream voice to speak with such unwavering candor and conviction.

It is week two of my younger brother Patrick's trip to Amsterdam and again I present his journey through his pictures. He is still familiarizing himself with the layout of the city and has spent many days just wandering and discovering all there is to the city. One evening was spent at a local club listening to the music of Omar The Legend until 3am, see pictures below. His biggest accomplishment of the week was getting up the courage to ride the various trams and trains in the city, which he finally did yesterday. In today's e-mail from him, he said he swore he saw "Marlon Brandon and some woman walking down the street"....he does know Marlon is no longer living, right? For just about the last two to three weeks we have had non-stop thunderstorms and cloudy, gloomy skies. Don't get me wrong-I love thunderstorms and cloudy gloomy days...but enough already-this ain't Seattle! Today however is the most glorious sunny day I have seen all year. The sky is clear blue and the sun is bursting with radiance and energy! It is hard to believe it is already October 6th and yet we are able to enjoy such a day of splendor. I decided to grab my camera, hop in the car and try to capture the beginnings of fall along the Mississippi and take a stroll through the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden.
