Alright, this just in-Patrick has been to the Arcade Fire show in Amsterdam and...YES! I think he liked it. I really think he liked it!
Ok, so my sister Deborah left this morning....but we'll get to that later in the week. Today, Patrick, per my strict directive-went to see The Arcade Fire at the Heineken Music Hall and I knew he'd be blown away.
Here's his unedited report/review:
"Hi
just got home its 12:30.
unbelievable ...- They are fucking amazing. WOW..
it was 11 (I think) artists who were working their asses off roaming
all over the stage like players in a Play using all the insturments
on stage.
and then these 4 guys roamed across the stage at various times
filming and playing instruments. they were this Orchestra playing
an opera that turned into a book then into amovie.
Okay they had a design of an open book that became clearer as the 3rd
song played then they would project this open book throughout and
different pages would be illuminated. there was this big ball as you
see that would roll up and down at various times the smaller circles
were the book or diff players that they would bring into the center.
cool video shots that were like a avantgaard film. The lighting
would play with the audience (hard to explain) suble lights would
sweep into the Audience and hymotize you. I had a GREAT seat
anywhere I wanted but found an upper balcony far back left and could
see everything hardly anyone by me. huge huge space, huge crowd....
The music and all the energy was amazing couldn't believe how they
would just lift you and drop you into this free fall with the music
like nothing I have ever experienced at a live concert. This
incredible story was told about life and pain and happiness and well
you know their songs. I shot a ton of video wait till you see it.
here are the pictures. My battery went dead by 1/2 way thru. I was
swept away and consitently found my self slack jawed with a pool of
drowl ready to flow over my bottom lip. slurrp the show was
undescribable i - ncredible leaders, the husband and wife or I
assume they are, she was all over kinda conducting or ring leading,
playing all the insturments on stage, Base violin accordian etc..
drums...
I left during their last song and it was just a crescendo of
everything imaginable like a finally at a fire works show. WOW WOW
WOW.
I hated to leave but it was over 2 and a half hours I had to ride the
metro and they only have trains every 15 minutes after 11:00 and I
didn't want to fight the crowds but I almost sacrificed myself to see
the oncore if their was one I stayed outside and listened but when
the crowd started coming down the stairs and I saw all the security
line up I figured their was a good chance they were done - the story
was told. I made it at a brisk walk just in time to catch a train as
a huge hoard started rising up onto the platform the train only
holding for a brief second as hands reached in and out of the quickly
closing doors. Whew!!
made it home in 20 minutes. can't sleep. gonna edit my video. I have
2 videos you guys will love.
Patrick
